Fashionably Femme | Lauren
Welcome to Fashionably Femme, a blog series featuring femmes from all nooks of the LGBT*QIA community. These rocking folks are girl bosses, moms, entrepreneurs, and all sorts of amazing human beings.
This week’s Fashionably Femme is another dear friend of mine, Lauren. Lauren and I sing together, shop together, and generally enjoy all sorts of fashion together. Read on to learn about this badass woman and her killer, quirky sense of style.
Lauren | Fashionably Femme
My style is a culmination of the woman that I was, still am, and will evolve to. When I was younger, I was blessed and lucky to grow up around a loving family whom supported me in all ventures that I wanted to partake in. Coming from a long line of men and women who encouraged me to reach for the stars, and for my dreams. I was involved in music, singing, and was able to travel/ see the world at a young age. This love of travel, the arts, and style only felt natural to go to school for Fashion, and combine everything that I’m passionate about into one entity.
It is amazing how having been involved in the arts has opened up so many doors in my life. From the people that I have met, to occupations that I have held, the arts have impacted more than just my style. They have impacted every fiber of what has inspired my style throughout the years.
An appreciation for color, composition, history (especially vintage finds!), bold accessories, design, and not being afraid to experiment has defined my personal/fashion evolution. I shop at vintage shows/stores, online, and also love browsing the sales section!
When I was young, my mom and aunts would take me to craft shows, flea markets, and vintage stores. Having a natural eye for color, texture, pattern, and creativity is definitely something that flows in our veins! Combine that experience with my love of traveling, and this has defined my life’s work.
My artistic and professional pursuits have allowed me to travel the world, experience different cultures, and have taught me to embrace the strong woman that I am. Being of service to others, representing the communities that I belong to, and asking question about the unknown is what being Femme has meant the most to me.
I learn something new everyday, while using the gift of music to bring people together. Encouraging those who need it, empowering the powerless, and being a voice to those who do not have one represents the best things about being Femme. Art in any medium builds to bring people together, not tear them apart. This is why I will continue to stand up for embracing the causes that bring us all together, not tear us apart.
Thanks for reading another awesome femme rockstar! Tune in next week for more.
