Today’s the final installment from our wedding day. The Wedding. And all of the photos that inevitably come after that. Every familial combination you can think of, all the friends, bridal party combinations, etc. EVERYTHING.
The very definition of non-traditional
We wrote our own ceremony [read: Sarah wrote it and I said “yeah, cool!”] and threw so many traditions out the window. Zoe was our ring dog, we had mixed gender bridal parties, we let people wear whatever made them feel comfortable, we walked down the aisle together with our dads, and more. Our ceremony had references to Harry Potter in it [but only if you were paying attention]. Heck, we got married in a theatre! And served a vegan dinner! We’re just anything but traditional and I kind of love it. Giving a whole new meaning to DIY wedding.
Zoe says “let’s go! I heard there’s treats up there”
100% unstaged. Literal happiest day of my life.
Birdseye view of everything
Sarah’s sibling played viola
isn’t she gorgeous?

I had the best attendants of honor.
Rings! And a Pinky Promise of forever
Possibly my favorite shot from the entire day.
Dinner, Dancing, Debauchery
At dinner, I instructed everyone to unroll their napkins, pick their utensil of choice, and do the thing where they clink and it makes us kiss. And then I said “That was your only freebie.” After that, any time someone wanted to make us kiss, they had to drop a dollar in the pot. All funds raised went to PAWS Chicago. In total, we raised $176 for them. All for the pups.
If you donated $20, you could request a kiss. A friend requested a “pupper kiss” which basically translated to kiss as our dogs. I made Zoe ears, Sarah made Tonks ears, and we went.
First Dance. Song: The Way I Am, Ingrid Michaelson
Dad/Daughter Dance. Song: Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle [read: how to make everyone at your wedding cry in less than 4 minutes]
Inevitable no more shoes shot. Yes, those are my slippers.
Did I mention we got married the night the Cubs cinched their spot in the Series? Yeahhhh… This wins for most memorable photo. Thanks, Dave.
Dancing with my family.
That’s it! We made it through all the wedding photos. Honestly, it was such a fun day. There were things I would change if I could do it all again but I also wouldn’t change the day for anything.
