Easy summer style, easy summer wrap dress
Looking for a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon in Chicago while enjoying some sweet sweet air conditioning and sipping on a glass of wine? I recently had the best time doing just that with my wife and mother-in-law, Laura, at City Winery Chicago.
First up, coffee
Laura’s train got in just before 10:00 and we grabbed a cup of coffee at Sawada Coffee, an amazing converted warehouse turned coffee house, where I got a pour over coffee made through a skateboard! If you were following my instagram story, you’ll have seen it!
Then, onto The Allis for one of my favorite brunches, but Laura had never been. So of course we had to go! We all indulged in some brunch and cold brew and enjoyed the amazing ambience. Seriously, if you haven’t been, you have to go! I highly recommend the avocado toast and the Allis Breakfast.
And now for the main event
When we arrived, we were handed a crisp white wine while we waited for the tour to begin. After touring the venue space, we got to see the room where they age the wine in oak and stainless steel barrels. We followed our guide to the main dining room (and saw an amazing event space that I’m dying to host a party at!) before arriving at the room where it happens: the fermentation room. After that, we were seated at a little table by the window and served a trio of crostini with red wine pairing. A pinot noir with a cucumber yogurt crostini, a sangiovese with an olive tapenade crostini, and a merlot with a zucchini pesto crostini.
My favorite was the pinot noir, so much so that I brought a bottle home! Planning to pair it with a homemade garlic barbecue pizza. Be sure to keep up with my insta story for that one!
Afterwards, we wandered around some furniture stores in Lincoln Park to test out some chairs and tables for Laura’s upcoming home renovation and Sarah and my upcoming move in September. It was a great girls’ day, plus I got to sit on a bunch of a lot of pretty chairs!
But about that dress
Every great girl’s day is all about the look, right? This dress, a stellar find from SheIn, has been on my Lust List for a while now! I love the easy wrap style (thanks, Diane Von Furstenberg!) and the bold geometric pattern. It’s super light weight so it’s great for summer and the maxi style is perfect. This great summer wrap dress is everything I need for a great girl’s day out. You can shop the exact dress from this link, and I’m sharing some of my other favorite geometric wrap dresses (and my shoes) just below! Cheers!
What’s your favorite way to have a girl’s day? Tell me in the comments!
