My Winter Beauty Picks and Tricks

Winter Beauty Picks to help dry skin through cold months

Did you read my post about why I love winter? Then you already know that chilly days, snow flurries, and getting cozy are my favorites. But with winter comes some one major setback: dry chapped skin. Today I’m here to share with you my winter beauty routine to show how I combat the flaky snowstorm on my face, legs, and lips.

Remember, though, this is all simply what works for me and my fair normal/dry skin. Always keep water on you to stay hydrated. And if you have a specific problem that needs medical attention, talk to your doctor.

PFB Vanish Liquid Loofa Facial Scrub

  • Facial Scrub
    • PFB Vanish Liquid Loofah is a scrub made for your most tender parts. So it works great for the face! I swear by this stuff. A dime-sized squirt and 3-5 minutes of scrubbing in a circular motion all over my face and neck is the best way to get all of that nasty flaky skin off of my face and leave me soft and smooth. I try to do this once/week.

  • L’Oreal Pure Clay Charcoal Mask
    • This mask is a godsend in a jar. I try to apply this detoxing mask once per week to keep my skin bright, despite the dreary days. I apply after a thorough cleanse and that face scrub in the shower. Great for while I’m waiting for my hair to dry. Along with the facial scrub, I aim to do this once/week.
  • DIY Lip Sugar Scrub
    • One tablespoon brown sugar and one tablespoon of coconut or olive oil is your shortcut to attacking the winter chapped lip epidemic. Simply massage onto your lips with your finger in a circular motion (which also acts as a plumper by stimulating blood flow) and rinse the sugar off. Let the oil stay on to absorb. Apply your favorite lip balm and you’re set for the week!

The Bathery Dry Brush to combat winter dry skin

  • Dry Brushing
    • You know those wooden handled brushes you see near the loofahs and sponges wherever you buy your shower products? Those are for dry brushing. Pick one up to help combat dry skin, and stimulate blood flow. These should be replaced every three months so if you get one now, definitely replace it come spring. You can do this before every shower! And if you want to learn about dry brushing more in depth, check out my post from back in 2015
  • Biotin supplement
    • DISCLAIMER: I am not a medical professional. Do not begin any dietary supplements without speaking to your doctor first.
    • One biotin pill per day helps keep my hair, skin, and nails strong, healthy, and clear. Working from the inside out as well as the outside in will help you feel like you’re actually achieving your beauty goals. I take one pill per night. Note you will not notice a difference for several weeks as it needs to get into your system.
  • Coconut Oil Everywhere
    • No but really, this is the best. I try to use coconut oil everywhere. I put it on my hair’s ends at night to get some moisture in there and prevent split ends. I will blitz some into my coffee (vegan bulletproof coffee FTW) or smoothies to get it inside to help my skin. Paired with cotton cosmetic gloves, I massage some into my cuticles overnight as well. This helps my nasty cuticles look marginally less disgusting. I’m planning on doing a video about all of my uses for coconut oil in the new year. Keep an eye out!

So there you go! It seems like a lot of work but I promise, one committed night per week to prepare everything will pay off immensely all winter long and leave you an amazing base to work with come spring!

What are your favorite products? Do you use anything I mentioned above? I want to hear how you do winter beauty!

I have taken Biotin for years so I’m switching it up this year with something different! But yes, a mask is always a good idea!! Would love for you to stop by and check out the latest!
